Els centres d’intercanvi de drets d’aigua han estat àmpliament considerats per la literatura com instruments econòmics de primer ordre per flexibilitzar la gestió de l’aigua de reg i promoure un ús sostenible d’aquest recurs. Aquest article analitza les conseqüències de la creació d’un centre d’intercanvi de drets d’aigua a la zona del Canal d’Urgell. El model representa el comportament de dues explotacions agràries representatives de la zona que tenen per objectiu maximitzar el marge net de l’explotació. Els resultats mostren que la creació d’un centre d’intercanvi podria permetre incrementar el marge net de les unitats de reg. |

Water trading schemes have been widely regarded by the literature as first order economic instruments to ease irrigation water management and promote sustainable use of this resource. This article analyzes the consequences of introducing a water trading scheme in the irrigated area of the Canal d’Urgell. It models the behavior of two representative farms in the area that aim to maximize the net margin. The results show that the establishment of a market mechanism could increase the net margin of the irrigation units. |
