dc.description In this work, we will describe the quantum tunneling effect and the operating principles of Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM). We will also define which components constitute an STM and which applications had in research, and how it is used today, far from its first uses. The last part will focus on the description of the process of repairing an old STM of the UB Physics Faculty
