This project explains the study of the use of gamification in the context of a SmartGrid and the subsequent design and implementation of a mobile application that integrates gamification oriented concepts in the context of energy literacy and efficiency. The application is intended for educational use, in this case for childs up to 5th and 6th grade. With this application, they participate in a tournament of energy, which is called Kukui Cup BCN.
The application name refers to the original Kukui Cup tournament, which is a real project that takes place in the University of Hawai and in which the idea of this project is based.
Participation in this tournament, allows the children to acquire know-ledge and greater awareness on the efficient use of energy. Through gamification elements used in the design of the tournament, we aim to influence their behavior and therefore achieve more efficient consumption habits.
This project includes the study and analysis of other existing, either similar or related directly in the field of energy efficiency and SmartGrid applications. To perform this preliminary analysis, and design of the ap-
plication, I have used gamification models as Octalysis or the Gamification Framework named Dynamics, Mechanisms and Components (DMC).
